Preparing pigments

From powder to paste

ENGLISH

Natural mineral as well as synthetic pigments are sold in a form of very fine powder, which needs to be diluted in demineralized water for a paste-like mash. This coloured paste is then stored in closable and labled containers and the painter further dilutes it into a very thin solution, which is then applied with a brush onto the intonaco coating.

For preparing the pigment paste we use a glass pad or tile, pour little pigment powder and add demineralized water little by little. For mixing the paste we use painter's spatules. The paint must be well mixed, not containing any lumps and clots of the powder.

CZECH

Do mieszania pasty używamy szpachelek malarskich.
